چکیده

ObjectiveTo evaluate the predictive ability of digital X-ray radiogrammetry (DXR) for fracture in women attending general mammography screening.Study designIn a nested case-control study, aged between 40 and 75 years, who attended regional screening program, had their bone mass assessed with DXR provided information regarding clinical risk factors osteoporosis. Follow-up was done through cross-referencing National Patient Registers. Associations DXR, were examined. Receiver operating characteristics curves T-score different types plotted, respective AUC calculated.Main outcome measuresFractures (hip, major osteoporotic any facture). Fracture diagnoses retrieved from Registers.Results14,841 examined conjunction mammography. Of these women, 10,967 returned fully completed questionnaires factors. In total 605 fractures (including 355 18 hip fractures) occurred during follow-up period (median time 3.3 years). Women older lower compared those without. correlated risk. HR/SD decrease 2.15 (CI 1.55–3.00) hip, 1.47 1.36–1.59) 1.33 1.26–1.42) fracture. The AUCs 0.79 (hip), 0.69 (major osteoporotic) 0.65 (any clinical).ConclusionsDXR is negatively female population. This indicates potential use population-based

Digital X-ray radiogrammetry in the study of osteoporotic fractures: Comparison to dual energy X-ray absorptiometry and FRAX.

Osteoporosis is often underdiagnosed and undertreated. Screening of post-menopausal women for clinical risk factors and/or low bone mineral density (BMD) has been proposed to overcome this. Digital X-ray radiogrammetry (DXR) estimates hand BMD from standard hand X-ray images and have shown to predict fractures and osteoporosis. Recently, digital radiology and the internet have opened up the pos...

Diagnosis of periarticular osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritis using digital X-ray radiogrammetry

Osteoporosis can manifest in two ways in rheumatoid arthritis: generalized bone loss, which may result from immobility, the inflammatory process per se and/or treatments such as steroids; and periarticular demineralization, which is probably due to local release of inflammatory agents. Digital X-ray radiogrammetry (DXR) is an effective and sensitive modality for monitoring periarticular osteopo...

Does digital X-ray radiogrammetry have a role in identifying patients at increased risk for joint destruction in early rheumatoid arthritis?

INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to investigate the role of hand bone mineral density (BMD) loss analyzed with digital X-ray radiogrammetry (DXR) in early rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as a predictor for progression of joint damage. METHODS In 379 patients with early RA, baseline and one-year hand BMD was measured with DXR and the hand bone loss (HBL) was analyzed using the smallest detecta...

Screening women at increased risk with MRI

Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women. In the screening of women for breast cancer, mammography is the most used imaging modality. Women with an increased risk for getting breast cancer can develop a malignancy at a relatively young age compared to other women. The increased risk for developing breast cancer can usually be found in a positive familial history. This positive fa...
